It’s about to get coconuts!

The long awaited fifth season of Bachelor in Paradise returns to ABC. The cast comprised of former fan favorites from The Bachelor franchise are back and ready for the pursuit of a potential happily-ever-after. They all left The Bachelor or The Bachelorette with broken hearts, but now they'll travel to a romantic paradise hoping to turn a potential summer fling into the real thing. Over the course of the season, we'll follow cast members as they explore new relationships and viewers at home will watch as they fall in love or go through renewed heartbreak with lots of tears.

If last season was any indication, Bachelor in Paradise will feature shocking twists, surprises, unexpected guests and some of the most unlikely relationships in Bachelor history. In true Bachelor fashion, it's sure to be an "amazing journey."

Pussy Face

Cyborgs were on my mind when I began creating the Pussy Face video. I became interested in women merging with machines and that birthed a new theory of aliens. I began to think about the whole idea behind what we consider an alien. We fear them, we don’t understand them, they are different and strange compared to us. Sound familiar? sounds the experience of a women to me. Then I watched the 1980’s film Predator again. Near the end there’s a fight scene between Carl Weathers and the Predator. Carl says “Okay pussy face, it’s your move.” After I hear that I needed no further convincing that the Predator character in the film was a female alien and I needed to create a work for her to have further agency. The footage I choose from the Predator film were scenes that pointed toward my investment in feminist dialogue and theories of the alien trope being the socially constructed embodiment of woman. Culturally produced femininity and the deeply rooted rejection of the feminine birthed my own version of Predator as a female character who won’t stand for any sexist bullshit.

The Serpent & the Rib

The Serpent & the Rib is a two channel video work exploring an new idilic version of the Garden of Eden. The artist had redesigned a feminist space where Lilith and Eve live instead of Adam and his subservient girlfriend. These women have become tried of Adam’s continued lustful advances so Eve and Lilith has banished Adam and now are free to explore their sexuality and discuss their ideals and dreams in a safe space. With Lilith as the snake and Eve portrayed by Kim Kardashian, this video loosens the patriarchal tires to the old Eden and allows for new plants, desires and colors to be reborn.
